Austria Tactical: Protest against former Chancellor Kurz to be held at Maria-Theresien-Platz in Vienna at 13:00 (local time) on October 16; allot for disruptions

  • Reports indicate that a protest under the banner of “Kurz Muss Weg”, will be held at Maria-Theresien-Platz in Vienna at 13:00 (local time) on October 16. The protest has been organized to demand the formal resignation of former Chancellor Sebastian Kurz as a member of the Parliament.  
  • Protesters will also denounce the “Kurz system” especially following allegations that Kurz will likely act as a shadow chancellor, despite the appointment of Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg from the Osterreichische Volkspartei (OVP) party.  
  • The slated protest, follows associated protests on October 7 and 12, with both the protests reportedly transpiring peacefully.
