Bangladesh Tactical: Gas supply to CNG filling stations nationwide to be suspended daily between 18:00-22:00 (local time) from September 19; allot for disruptions

Please be advised:

  • The government announced that it will suspend the supply of gas to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) refueling stations across Bangladesh between 18:00-22:00 (local time) from September 19. The exact date marking the lifting of the suspension was not specified.
  • The decision was made by the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources to ensure uninterrupted supply for power plants as the country experiences a significant shortage of natural gas.

Recommendations:

  1. Those operating or residing in Bangladesh from September 19 should allot for disruptions and make sure they have maintained a sufficient amount of fuel as reserves for times of shortage.
  2. Acquire as much fuel as possible as early as possible ahead of planned disruptions in supply. Maintain heightened vigilance at fuel stations and avoid altercations, as these areas will be prone to violence.
  3. Plan vehicular travel and ration your fuel supply during times of shortage, while maintaining a sufficient reserve for emergency situations.
