Burundi Tactical: Ongoing fuel shortages in Bujumbura on August 21; allot for disruptions

- Reports indicate that gas stations in Bujumbura are facing an ongoing shortage of petrol and diesel on August 21 with several reportedly completely without fuel.
- At the time of writing, several gas stations are turning customers away from pumps due to lack of fuel. Those stations with reserve quantities of fuel are reporting large lines and subsequent traffic jams.
- According to reports, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Energy stated that the shortage has been caused by a logistical problem in connection with the supply of petroleum products and that a return to normal service is expected shortly.
- The government stated that the quantity of fuel and petroleum products in stock, current imports, and products on order are sufficient at the national level.
