Assessments

  1. Based on precedent and the mobilization capacity of the groups involved, the protest on November 12 in Santiago is expected to witness turnouts in low-to-mid thousands. Further demonstrations can be expected in major urban centers, especially in Santiago and its metropolitan area.
  2. As such, a bolstered security presence can be expected in Santiago and other urban centers with clashes between protesters and police likely to occur. Police could resort to forcible dispersal methods in the event of unrest, as observed in previous demonstrations.
