Morocco Tactical (UPDATE): Authorities revise nationwide night curfew timings to between 21:00-05:00 (local time) from August 3; adhere to government instructions

Please be advised:

  • According to Morocco’s state news agency, authorities have revised the timing of the ongoing nationwide night curfew to between 21:00-05:00 (local time). The indefinite nationwide night curfew, which has been in place since May 21 was previously observed between 23:00-04:30.   
  • From August 3, travel to and from Casablanca, Agadir, and Marrakesh will also be banned. Health workers, those with urgent medical needs, and those who are vaccinated and have a vaccination passport will be exempted from this travel ban.  
  • Restaurants and cafes will be required to close by 21:00 and can operate only at 50 percent capacity. The same capacity restrictions are applicable for modes of public transportation. 
  • Gatherings in open or closed spaces will not be allowed to exceed 25 percent of the venue’s total capacity. Hotels and tourist establishments will not be allowed to accommodate people more than 75 percent of their total capacity.  
  • Gyms, public bath areas, and indoor swimming pools will remain closed.  
  • These measures have been taken to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Morocco. 

Recommendations:

  1. Those residing or operating in Morocco on August 3 and over the coming weeks are advised to adhere to the government’s instructions and take necessary precautions to ensure business continuity due to the revision of the curfew timings.
  2. Remain abreast of authorities’ updates regarding potential changes to COVID-19-related restrictions on businesses and travel.
