• Emerging reports indicate that Policia Ecuador (PE) have launched security operations in the Comite del Pueblo neighborhood in northern Quito, as of 02:00 (local time) on June 19, as clashes between civilians and alleged members of a criminal group unfolded since the evening hours of June 18.  
• As per videos circulating on social media, groups of individuals were seen hurling explosives, while also exchanging fire and setting fire to objects along the neighborhood’s streets, with residents running for cover.  
• Preliminary reports indicate that several houses and a healthcare establishment have been affected by the gunshots and explosions. In addition, an unconfirmed number of individuals have suffered injuries.  

Those operating or residing in Quito on June 19 are advised to avoid all travel to the Comite del Pueblo neighborhood due to the ongoing security operations as of the early morning hours.
