Egypt Tactical: Oil service vessel sinks in Gulf of Suez near Egypt’s Ras Ghareb during morning hours on June 2; allot for disruptions
Please be advised:
- Reports indicate that an oil service vessel sank in the Gulf of Suez in the northern Red Sea off the coast of Egypt’s Ras Ghareb during the morning hours on June 2.
- 11 members of the crew have been rescued and one captain was killed. Search operations are underway at the time of writing to locate a missing engineer.
- The vessel reportedly sank after it accidentally struck an underwater wreck, which led to heavy ingress of water on board.
Recommendations:
Those managing or operating vessels through or near the Gulf of Suez in the northern Red Sea on June 2 are advised to allot for travel disruptions due to the sinking of the oil service vessel and ongoing search operations in the area.
