Germany Tactical: Multiple anti-war demonstrations to be held in Berlin on August 31-September 1; maintain vigilance

Please be advised

  • Anti-war activist organizations will hold demonstrations in Berlin on August 31-September 1.
  • On August 31, the Brandstifter BRD organizations and associated activists will hold two demonstrations. The first will take place during the afternoon hours (local time) at Bendlerblock and the second will occur during the evening hours at the Reichstag building. The demonstrations are being held under the banner “Germany is an arsonist!”.
  • Additionally, anti-war activists will hold a protest at Elise-und-Otto-Hampel-Platz at 18:00 on September 1.

Assessments

  1. Based on the mobilization capabilities of the organizing groups and social media interest in the events, the protests are liable to witness varying turnouts ranging from high dozens to mid-hundreds with the protest at the Reichstag liable to see the highest turnout.
  2. Although the protests are liable to transpire mostly peacefully, precedent indicates there is a potential for scuffles between protesters and police. A bolstered security presence can be expected at the aforementioned protest locations with the most significant contingent deployed to the Reichstag. Police are liable to use forcible dispersal methods, including arrests, in the case of widespread unrest.
  3. Disruptions to pedestrian and vehicular traffic in the vicinity of the aforementioned protest locations are expected during the slated demonstration timings.

Recommendations

Those operating or residing in Berlin on August 31-September 1 are advised to maintain vigilance and allot for disruptions in the vicinity of the aforementioned protest locations from the afternoon hours onwards.
