• The protest is aimed at drawing attention to the alleged involvement of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member of parliament (MP) and Wrestling Federation India (WFI) chief, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in the sexual harassment of women wrestlers.

The latest demonstration remains in line with the wrestlers’ continued anti-government protests in the capital city in recent weeks. As such, attempts to forcefully stage the protest will elevate the likelihood of security forces’ intervention, including forcible dispersal and potential arrest of participants. Should the gathering materialize, participation is expected to reach the low-to-mid dozens.
2. While the timing of the gathering remains unknown as of writing, it is likely to be timed with the Parliament’s inauguration in the morning or afternoon hours (local time) on May 28. Any potential extension of support from the opposition parties may further bolster the turnout and increase the likelihood of security action. Disruptions to pedestrian and vehicular traffic remain likely in the vicinity of the protest on the day.
