• Reports indicate that protesters have stormed the thermal power plant in Dhi Qar Governorate’s Nasiriyah during the evening hours (local time) of June 29. 
• Protesters are reportedly denouncing the extensive electricity shortages across Dhi Qar after a complete shutdown occurred at the power plant in Nasiriyah earlier on June 29. 
• It currently remains unclear if operations have resumed at the plant.  
• Similar shutdowns at power plants and subsequent electricity outages were also reportedly experienced in other southern provinces of Iraq, including Basra.

Those operating or residing in Dhi Qar Governorate on June 29 are advised to avoid nonessential travel to the vicinity of the thermal power plant in Nasiriyah due to the reported storming of the facility by protesters. It is further advised to allot for disruptions to operations due to the significant power shortages in the region.
