Israel Alert (UPDATE): Explosion in central Tel Aviv during overnight hours of July 18-19 may have been caused by UAV; remain indoors until further notice
Current Situation:
- Following the explosion in central Tel Aviv close to the US Embassy compound, emergency response teams have been operating at the scene of the incident. At least two civilians have been treated with shrapnel wounds.
- Reports currently indicate that the explosion may have been cause by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) which could have penetrated Israeli airspace from the sea.
- The Yemen-based Houthi Military Spokesperson, Yahya Saree, stated during the overnight hours that he will release details on a qualitative operation over the coming hours.
Assessments & Forecast:
There are currently several indications to suggest that the cause of the explosion in Tel Aviv was a result of a UAV explosion, including the loud voice of the explosion and CCTV video footage that depicted the sound of a UAV before the explosion occurred. Should it be confirmed, it would represent a significant escalation vis-a-vis the Iran-backed “Axis of Resistance factions.”
Recommendations:
- Minimize movement in the Tel Aviv area during the overnight and morning hours of July 19 until further notice.
- Monitor the situation for further developments and consult with MAX for operational recommendations.
