Netherlands Tactical: FDF to stage vehicular demonstrations beginning at 09:00 (local time) onwards in The Hague on November 17; allot for disruptions

Please be advised

  • A vehicular protest caravan by members of the Farmers Defence Force (FDF) is slated to arrive in The Hague during the morning hours (local time) on November 17. The caravan of farmers began their journey to The Hague from across the Netherlands on November 16.
  • A vehicular protest has been approved surrounding the Huis ten Bosch palace at 09:00. At 10:00, participants will issue a protest note to King Willem-Alexander at Korte Vijverberg. The issuing of the protest note will be followed by speeches at the locations. The FDF will be allowed to park on Benoordenhoutseweg.
  • The protests have been organized to denounce the government’s environmental policies, primarily current plans to reduce nitrogen emissions. Protesters will journey to Leidschendam following the events in The Hague.

Assessments

Owing to the known mobilizational capacity of the group and based on organizers estimates, the protests are likely to see participation in the mid-to-high hundreds. The various events, based on precedent, are expected to transpire largely peacefully and without major incidents of unrest. In the event that large crowds of FDF members gather, minor scuffles could be observed but these are unlikely to result in widespread unrest. A bolstered security presence is likely to be established to monitor proceedings. Due to protesters bringing their vehicles to the protests, major disruptions to travel are likely to be experienced throughout The Hague from the morning hours onwards.

Recommendations

Those operating or residing in The Hague on November 17 are advised to allot for disruptions to travel and in the vicinity of the slated protests.
