• Anti-Trump activists belonging to the Democracy Action Network (DAN), the Los Angeles chapter of the Indivisible Movement, and the South California chapter of the ‘50501 Movement’ are slated to hold a ‘March for our Constitution’ protest march in Los Angeles, CA on March 22.  
• Protesters will gather at the intersection of Veteran Avenue and Wellworth Avenue from 11:30 (local time) and begin their march towards the Wilshire Federal Building at 12:00. 
• The protest is being held to protest President Donald Trump’s alleged assault on the US Constitution through actions like the removal of birthright citizenship, the arrest of pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil, and the freezing of federal spending among others. Protesters also aim to display support for federal judges and workers in the federal government who seemingly resist Trump’s actions.

The upcoming protest march is in line with a broader wave of demonstrations by left-leaning activist groups denouncing Trump’s policies surrounding the deportation of immigrants, crackdown on protests, freeze on federal funding, and layoffs of federal workers. On that note, the DAN and the 50501 movement are grassroots-led progressive movements founded following Trump’s election victory in November 2024 and have periodically held anti-Trump demonstrations nationwide, particularly near government buildings, like State Capitols and federal buildings.

FORECAST: Based on precedent, social media traction of posts advertising the upcoming protest, and the mobilizational capabilities of the organizers, the protest march is likely to witness a turnout between the mid-to-high hundreds. Given that the official protest call called for a peaceful protest, explicitly stating that “violence of any kind will not be tolerated”, the march is likely to transpire peacefully. However, given heightened sentiments motivating the protest, isolated scuffles between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out. Nevertheless, a bolstered security presence can be expected near the Federal Building, particularly along Wilshire Boulevard. Additionally, localized disruptions to vehicular and pedestrian traffic can be anticipated during the march.
