Argentina Tactical: ATE workers’ union to hold protests nationwide, including in Buenos Aires, from 11:00 (local time) on March 25; maintain heightened vigilance

The Associacion Trabajodres del Estado (ATE) workers’ union has called for protests nationwide from 11:00 (local time) onwards on March 25.
In Buenos Aires, a protest will be held outside the Polo Cientifico Tecnologico located near the intersection of Calle Paraguay and Calle Godoy Cruz.
Protests in other cities are slated to take place outside Centros Cientificos y Tecnologicos (CCT) located nationwide, including at Universidad Nacional de Cordoba in Cordoba and at Ciudad Universitaria Rosoario in Rosario, Santa Fe.
Protests are being held to denounce the layoff of 1,600 administrative staff at the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Cientificas y Tecnicas (CONICET) national scientific and technical research agency on March 21.

Based on ATE’s mobilization capabilities, the protests are likely to witness a turnout ranging in the high hundreds to low thousands, with the highest attendance likely in Buenos Aires. Moreover, spontaneous rallies and roadblocks in other cities such as Cordoba and Rosario remain likely throughout the day.
Further, due to heightened sentiment and public disapproval about the workers’ layoffs in the public sector coupled with March 21 reports revealing Argentine unions’ concerns that over 60,000 state workers may lose their employment, localized scuffles between security forces and protestors remain possible.
