MENA Tactical: Eid al-Fitr to be celebrated across region between April 9-14; allot for disruptions

Current Situation:

  • Eid al-Fitr marks the conclusion of the fasting month of Ramadan and will be celebrated between April 9-14 across the region. However, the dates may vary between different countries. 
  • Businesses and government institutions, including banks, are usually closed during this period. 
  • In Algeria, Eid al-Fitr will reportedly be celebrated between April 9-11. 
  • In Egypt, Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated between April 9-14. Government and public sector institutions will be closed during this period.   
  • The Iraqi Prime Minister’s Media Office (PMO) announced that the Eid al-Fitr holiday period will be marked from April 9-13. 
  • In Jordan, Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated between April 9-12. 
  • In Kuwait, the Civil Service Bureau announced that all ministries, government agencies, public bodies, and institutions will suspend work from April 9-13 in celebration of Eid al-Fitr.  
  • In Libya, Eid al-Fitr will be reportedly celebrated between April 10-14. 
  • In Morocco, Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated between April 10-12.  
  • In Qatar, Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated between April 7-15. During this period, all public institutions will remain closed. Qatari authorities announced that departments offering services to the public will operate from 08:00 to 12:00. 
  • In Saudi Arabia, Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated between April 8-11. Most public and private-sector employees will suspend work until April 14.  
  • In Tunisia, Eid al-Fitr will be reportedly celebrated between April 9-14. 
  • In Turkey, Eid al-Fitr is called Ramazan Bayrami. It will reportedly be celebrated between April 9-12. 
  • In the UAE, the government announced Eid al-Fitr holidays for all public sector employees from April 8-14. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) announced that April 8-12 will be a paid holiday for all employees in the private sector across the UAE. In Sharjah, the government reportedly announced a one-week holiday for its public sector employees from April 8-14. 
  • In Yemen, the Presidential Command Council (PCC)-affiliated Ministry of Civil Service and Insurance announced that the Eid al-Fitr holidays will take place from April 7-12.

Those operating or residing in the Middle East and North Africa throughout Eid al-Fitr on April 9-14 are advised to allot for disruptions to business continuity and additional time for travel throughout this period.
